It all started with the thoughts of a “Christmas surprise”.
Kathy had always loved the look and personality of the
“Golden Retriever” and one September evening we searched the
internet for Golden Retrievers breeders in New Hampshire. It
was through our luck and great fortune that we found
“Starquest Golden Retrievers”. We “fell in love” with both
the Seifert’s philosophy and of course the “Golden’s”. Kathy
was excited that there was a litter out of Darcy and Brody,
due to be born in November. We left the website that evening
with the wish and hope that “someday we will get a Golden”.
Now the “surprise” part of the story begins. John contacted
Marcia and wanted to surprise Kathy with a puppy for
Christmas. Marcia felt it best to let Kathy be a part of the
“puppy experience” by watching the puppies grow and develop
their personalities. Although it wasn’t a “Christmas
surprise”, Kathy was surprised with the news that we were
getting a puppy and it was the beginning of an exciting
journey with many new surprises.
Our Bailey came home the week after New Year 2004 and four
months later Miles came to us as he needed to be in a home
environment. In December of 2005 Sadie was to temporarily
join our family to see if we could train her and then give
her back to Marcia and Steve. (This was to see if we had the
ability to train dogs and then let them go to someone else).
Well to make a long story short, two weeks later we knew
that we couldn’t give her back. She was ours and we love her
dearly. With three “Golden’s” in the house, our lives were
quite busy and full. Bailey was planning to be bred in
January and we had “thought” about getting one of her
puppies.
Kathy finally did get her surprise however. John brought
Bailey to Marcia in preparation for the birth of the
puppies. That evening John came home with Colby, the last of
the Bond babies.
We cannot imagine our lives without our “Golden’s”. They
each have their own unique personality and they bring us so
much joy everyday. We want to extend out sincere thanks to
Marcia and Steve Seifert for all of their help, support,
kindness, and for giving us Bailey, Miles, Sadie, and Colby.
We truly believe and live by their quote, “dogs are people
too”!!
